The Ukraine

Well we just made it home from the Ukraine. So very interesting going through the boarder crossings, it reminds me of the war movies you see... The Hungarian boarder with two separate checks then a neutral area and then two checks with the Ukraine guards. Any way it was a good day just very late. We didn't get back to Hungary until 12:39 PM.

The club was suppose to meet at 4:00 but it didn't meet until 6:00. There were 12 ladies that includes the pastors wife and a missionary lady. I'm told, and the hands confirmed it, that the club had to start late because the ladies were working the fields. What we have found is that we are more alike than different we enjoyed quilting and chatting about our families and our lives.

Patricia gave a powerful testimony that included the plan of salvation. I love to listen to her life story. I gave my testimony as well and at the end offered each a bible. All 10 ladies that asked for the bibles, every one of them! It was so amazing to see a desire for God's word. We are so thankful for all of our supporters and the impact that they have made on the lives of so many women here in Hungary and the small village in the Ukraine.

We also gave a gift of 10 bibles to the pastors wife to give as God leads and to use at their small church. So far we have given out 41 bibles and we still have 4 more quilt clubs to visit.

Please continue to pray for open hearts and a desire to know our Lord more intimately in each of these ladies lives. The bible says, "today is the day of salvation," our deepest desire is for each of these ladies to accept Christ and grow in Him through His word.

Some Rest in His Hands

The last two days have been restful. We were able to see some of Budapest, their beautiful architecture, the Danube and of course lots of Hungarian food and sweets. The people we have met have been so kind and generous it's hard to believe they are distrustful of Americans. We have done our best to be examples of the love of Christ.

Today we had a fairly leisurely day. First thing we went to a local open air market, very interesting, most of the venders seem to be of oriental decent. It was strange looking at them and hearing Hungarian come out of their mouths. Then we met an American missionary family that just moved from Hungary to Slovenia. They had to be here for an appointment so we had opportunity to have lunch with the and stroll alone the Danube. It was so peaceful. Then we stopped at a local fabric shop and then home for a bit of rest before supper with the family Palmas family, the Hungarian missionary we are working with. Palma spent a month in Texas last year with Patricia learning about running a quilt shop. It seems a quilt shop may be something that would expand the quilting ministry here. Anyway Palma warned us that her father was not a fan of Americans and Christians so that was not a topic of discussion....but her parents wanted to thank Patricia for caring for her while she was in America. We had a delightful time and her father even laughed with us. It seemed to go well and we hope that we have left a better image of Christians and Americans.

The response to the quilt clubs has been more than we anticipated, praise God. Each club seems to be adding numbers and we find that we are having to make another 20-30 appliqué kits. Thankfully Patricia had the foresight to bring extra fabric. Of course we are so thrilled about the numbers not because of the sewing, although that is fun, but because it means more will hear the salvation message. The more seeds that are planted the larger the harvest will be. I know God has a plan and we are thrilled to be a part of it. We are still looking forward to meeting more of the ladies God has been preparing to have these bibles. We leave tomorrow morning for the Ukraine, it's about 200 miles. There will be a class there tomorrow and then classes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as well. So as you can see we needed the last two day to rest and prepare.

I leave you with this thought
GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME
ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD

On the mission field

The past two days we were in the country areas. It has been a great blessing. Palma and Patti had arranged for us to stay with some of the ladies that are in the quilt clubs. They are so gracious and kind. Friday we were in a small town Viseto. The club there is meeting in a historic building and we were shown how they lived over the centuries. It was very interesting. Three girls met us in traditional hungarian clothes and danced for us, it was the oldest 12 birthday. There were 9 ladies at the club and 4 of them wanted bibles.

Yesterday we were in Gyulia a much larger club we had 44 women it was a very tiring day. This was a full days club with an 11:00- 12:00 hour for testimony Patricia spoke first she touched the hearts of several that could relate to her life. I was bold, I think so anyway, and was able to give the gospel and tell how it had changed my life even though I was saved at 5. There was a young girl,16, that played the violin for us, she has a marvelous gift, she come to me later with many tears and said she like to be a missionary and tell people about Jesus just like me. How humbling eye cried together and I told here that God would use her in a might way if she was willing to follow his guidance. Wow I'm crying just thinking about it.

We had 15 ladies ask for bibles each one wanted them signed. Well I'm not famous or an author so I wrote a little blessing in each and dated them. They seemed so grateful to have Gods word.

I wonder what will come of the seed Patricia and I planted what a beautiful garden it could be for The Lord.

We were exhausted but it was so well worth it.

A Prayer Nudge

You know how it is when you are so tired, weary really, that you know you'll fall asleep before your head even hits the pillow. Well that was me last night. I went to bed exhausted and found myself wide awake. Yep couldn't have been any more awake. I laid there for hours tossing and turning when I looked at the clock I realized that my friends were just pulling in the gate at Sunbury ready to start their day....

Then I remembered meeting the ladies at the laundry room with sawbona they would reply "kunjani" and I would say "siyaphila" and finally they would say "yebo" (greetings, how are you, I am fine, yes - I don't know why they say yes but they do) then they would laugh and correct my pronunciation. My day would start with joy in my heart and a smile. I lifted each of them in prayer Ntombifuthi, Monica, Maria, Ellen Zandi and finally Lina. It wasn't long before I was sound asleep. Perhaps, just perhaps, they needed my prayers today.
I have said it before and I'll say it again, I thank my God for the blessing they were and the memories of them that fill my heart. May Gods riches blessing be on each of them today and all of their days.

My Legacy

Is been so long since I've blogged, and I miss it. We are on project, with SOWERS, in Trinity Texas. One of the things I love about SOWERS is devotions. Every day from 7:30 - 8:00, nuggets of gold from Gods word, it is the best way to start the day.

Yesterday was about our legacy. I guess I'd never thought too much about it, but it is true we do leave a legacy whether we want to or not. We have so many wonderful examples in scripture: Moses, Joshua, Ruth, Hannah, Esther, David, the prophets, Dorcas, the disciples and of course our Lord himself. So, what kind of legacy am I leaving for my children, grand children, and those God places in my path? It is a sobering thing to think about and something I will be called in account for one day.

It is my prayer that God will use me for His glory , that is the legacy I desire
to leave behind that my life was used up for my Lord savior and redeemer.
I know that can only happen if I give him my days my hours and my passing
moments.

On the road again

Well we are once again on the road. It seems such a long time ago that we were on the road with our home trailing behind, seems familiar but more like a dream. Yet here we are in Hitchcock Texas so far from home.

The project is a church/ camp.
Howard is building a cabinet with drawers while I am making matterice sacs. I will say my machine is not completely happy with the job. The fabric is a heavy vinyl and she groans like an old lady in the rain, but she's getting the job done so far.

This past week I had a call that a very dear friend of mine has gone to be with Jesus. I really felt the need to be with her family and so I'm am now in Wadsworth to say my earthly farewells.
Betty was like a second mom to me and I know that one day we will meet again. Let me say here, "Thank you Betty for all the times you took me to church, Jet Cadets and all the time you spent loving me. You were Christ heart, hand and feet to me. Only God knows the ripples you placed in others lives for Him. "

Crazy, disjointed and unorganized

I know it seems crazy but it would seem that all we have been able to do is sleep and eat....
Well, I mean that we have really not been able to get into a routine. So things seem very disjointed.
We are hoping to get things filing soon.
Howard has had several of his dr appointments and has only a few left so I guess that is progress, but we have not been able to set any go our project for the season.
